Am I Addicted??? May 8, 2008

My name is Tam. And I’m addicted to blogging.

This morning in my inbox, waiting for me, was my Verse of the day.

It read…

“Philippians 2:1-2 NLT

Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? . . . Then make me truly happy by agreeing whole-heartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.”

I read…

“Philippians 2:1-2 NLT

Is there any encouragement from blogging to Christ? . . . Then make me truly happy by agreeing whole-heartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.”

Realizing blogging can have, and has had, wonderful opportunities for sharing Christ and my misreading this verse still has a lot of weight to it in it’s New Tam Translation…I still must confess…

I am addicted to blogging.

BUT….I blog for Him. In hopes that I can stand out as a Christian that loves life! A Christ follower that can honor Him, love Him and still have fun! I love my new friends. Young and old. Believer and non-believer. And God has blessed me with all of you.

Now. I must go and do my Bloggle Study.

I mean. My BIBLE Study. :?

  9. givemejesus Says:

Funny you should mention this today. It occurred to me yesterday that I have suddenly begun spending an inordinate amount of time blogging - both reading and writing. Every time I trim the list, I add two or three! Throw Twitter into the mix and there are alot of dishes and dirty clothes going unwashed (I’m currently a SAHD - stay at home Dad)!!!

  10. Heidi Says:

    Hi my name is Heidi

    Welcome to BA- bloggers anonymous.

We are ALL sick. But having soooooo much fun.

Seriously….. Uhh what’s bad about taking a little there and little there from other blogs. Coming here I have met a true Christ follower friend.. a true friend.

So Meeting adjourned… Blogging Is OKay.

  11. brandiandboys Says:

I’m glad to know it is normal. I’ve been at it one week and I can’t get it out of my head. I walk around seeing life and asking myself “would that be a good post?” I was bummed when I didn’t get a picture of Gage bleeding last night! That’s sad!

  12. lori Says:

I love my blogging, I need my blogging…..

don’t even think of taking my blogging away because if you do i might do something irrational….like…like…create a whole website, and start e-mailing everyone i know the link and tell them they have to e-mail back…..(breathe lori…..just slowly, in, out… ;)

  13. tam Says:

Yes Lori - A Blogging Devotion Day. Every Day. Well done my friend!

    GMJ - Hmmmm… How about a “H.A.P.P.Y.”

  14. tam Says:

Brandi - Hilarious! I do the SAME thing. Anything and everything IS a blogging moment!

One night my son called me into his room to have a talk and my first thought was “hope i can blog about this” then i sat down and noticed he was crying a little. So then I thought, ‘well, I’ll be sensitive in the post” TERRIBLE!!! :D

Lori, it’s ok. we’re here for you! We’ll protect you at all cost.

  15. Heidi Says:

Isn’t that funny that every event in our lives, even our sitting on throne times, grocery stores, pit hairs, pimples they are ALL Official Blogging topics.

What did we use before blogs?
    Does anyone remember?

  16. Heidi Says:

    Oh yea…

    Tam- I double Heart YOU!!

    Te Amo

  17. tam Says:

Hmmm…I don’t know what i used before blogging. But I DO know my kids had more clean clothes :?

  18. Heidi Says:

    and home cooked meals.

I wish Del Taco had .99 taco nite every night!!

  19. hislifeformine Says:

Hahaha…yep, you have hit the nail on the head for the reasons to blog and I wholeheartedly agree with you. So we must do it, it is a calling on our lives

  20. tam Says:

HA - maybe I should just teach my kids how to cook! It’s a win/win!

Yes! it is a calling. right. that’s it! :D

  21. mandythompson Says:

  22. tam Says:

Mandy - are you constipated again?

  23. Kelly Says:

I am so very blessed/spoiled that I get to go have a full massage once a week or so. Lately, my massage therapist has really had to work some knots out of my…ahem….”hip” area LOL! She asked me what on earth I have been doing.

…..Um…… well…… sitting on my rear in a computer chair….??

Okay all of you addicted people!! Get up and move around at least once an hour!! LOL!!

gonna get myself a pedometer to make sure I am moving enough just cause I started BLOGGING!!!

  24. brandy Says:

I’m terrified after reading this…. b/c really…. I’m not the only one…. and that means that maybe this blogging addiction is bigger than I thought and it’s not just me. If it was just me, then I could say “well I clearly have issues” but since its everyone else too, well, we all have issues.

    Hi.

I’m Brandy, or as Tam says…Bwandeee.

    I’m here to join BA.

    Please be kind. :???:

  25. brandy Says:

Kelly gets a massage once a week?!

  26. brandy Says:

Where do I sign up for THAT?!

  27. mandythompson Says:

    HAHAHA!!! YOU WISH!!!!

oh and kelly! wow - great warning! ;)

  28. Cheryl Says:

I think I’m in the minority unless reading is an addiction…

  29. givemejesus Says:

Tam - I love it…..I would much rather be HAPPY than SAHD! (BTW, I was trying to figure out who GMJ was until it dawned on me…..duhhhh!!)

  30. juliepersinger Says:

Sometimes when my children come in and ask what I’m doing STILL at the computer I tell them, “I’m just working on my Deep Vein Thrombosis - I’ll be out in a minute.”

  31. Kelly Says:

    um, well, the massage…yeah.
This is God’s way of smiling at me :)
This was my reward for plucking up the family, changing towns, changing homes, changing hubby’s job, to follow the call of God on our life :) a hidden perk!
Hubby works for the public school system here, which has the most awesome health insurance package on the planet. I went to the chiropractor for a knot I’ve had in my back for over a year. He has a massage therapist that my insurance covers :) Not even a co-pay. Woo Hoo! Happy me!
Better than shopping, getting my nails done, and pedicure all combined!
    Almost….almost…..but not quite….better than blogging!!
    AHHHHHHH!!! What am I saying??!!

  39. Ivy Vega Says:

Tam, what are some pictures not coming out anymore? Is it wordpress, or my blogger>

I love reading you. Your passion and love for Christ is obvious. But you still live in this world, and make it real, or write like it is.

I appreciate when other christian sister yes are bold for sharing the gospel, but don’t forget that we are still living here today.

Keep your addiction, I am hooked!

Btw, that has to do with personalities. Perhaps, like me I am a little “obsessive” at things I enjoy….

Good night and again I read you because you are real.

  51. Pete Wilson Says:

i have thought a lot about this lately. How much is too much? Not sure if there is an answer to that one.

  52. tam Says:

Yes Love - I suffer gladly with BAD. Someone’s gotta do it ;)

Pete - in all seriousness. Seriously. I know there are times when it is too much. When I’ve neglected things. Family. Not good.

So that’’s why we started our kids blogging. it made us feel less… guilty.

    just kidding!

There definitely needs to be a balance. A schedule. I try to be more of a late night blogger.

What guidelines do you have in place?

  53. cathi stegall Says:

I’ve just recently begun my therapy to my blogging addiction! “They’ve done studies on it…and it works 60% of the time 100% of the time” [thank you anchorman]

Regarding guidelines, tam…seriously now, is a blog a blog w/o the ability to blog about anything that prompts you to blog? When all else fails, do a top ten list. Yeah, those make me happy too.

  54. cathi stegall Says:

yeah, and I just admitted my addiction to Mandy…whom I’ve known for less than a week, mind you. I’M AN OPEN BOOK and NO ONE CAN STOP ME NOW! I’m stinkin on Fire!

  55. cathi stegall Says:

    taking.

    medication.

  58. lovewillbringustogether Says:

    Guidelines?? We need guidelines?

Would that be besides the 6 rules of blogging?

    Oh Dear

    <B

  59. tam Says:

oh no - this is getting too complicated!

  60. cathi stegall Says:

well, the flintsone vitamins don’t work all of the time, but if you crush them and mix them with your mouthwash, it might make you barf a little.

[but I still don't know how that fixes the bloggin issue]

  61. tam Says:

Uuuhhh Cathi - the disturbing thing about this is…I have a feeling you’ve tried that before

  62. Kristiapplesauce Says:

    um…nice Tam.

  63. cathi stegall Says:

let’s just say, don’t mix Dino with Scope…bad combo…kind of like mentos and pepsi…

    except you Lady Carmen ;)

  66. cathi stegall Says:

oh, ‘we’ try…sometimes way too hard, but we try nonetheless

  67. tam Says:
