So christians DO enjoy sex!
i’m still blown away by our conversation with Ed, our fabulous guest poster last week! i don’t, often enough, have discussions with others who hold completely different views on God than i do. have i done this purposely? no. not at all. my lifestyle usually has me in environments where i am around ‘like minded’ people. i am finding that hasn’t necessarily benefited me. i am missing out on so much.
in fact, last night B and i went out and listened to a phenomenal blues band at a local restaurant/bar (gasp) and enjoyed a few appetizers and drinks (am i supposed to insert a gasp here too?). i loved the environment and atmosphere! i thoroughly love people! i love rubbing shoulders with ‘life’, being cultured. last night i realized how much i missed that.
all this to say...Ed, thank you for being a part of my life. for accepting me for who i am. even if we hold different views. it doesn’t matter. we are all worthy of love and acceptance. and i thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for calling me friend and letting me into your world. you have blessed me more than you realize!
below is a personal thank you, from Ed, to all who were a part of his post here last week
“I would like to express my gratitude once again to Tam for inviting me to post on her blog and to everyone who took the time to answer my questions. I have gained a better understanding and appreciation of the Christian faith. An important thing I learned is that many of you have questions just like I do. It’s when we think we have found all the answers to all the questions that we get into trouble.
If believers are right then when they join God in heaven he will reveal all to them. I’ll just have to settle for what I can learn in my lifetime.
“

What a swell guy. HA, and I am the first to comment. Sweet!
“An important thing I learned is that many of you have questions just like I do…”
And you know what? Those questions don’t go away or get any easier or more bearable as time goes on. Not even for Christians…which, by the way, is why some of us are Christians.
And, Yeah, Christians DO enjoy SEX!!! (Or so I’ve heard.
)
Love given and received is the best thing in the world.
And you are correct Nor, there are always questions.
Now about this Sex talk…;)
Tam, I couldn’t agree with you more! The circles I hang out in are with ‘like-minded’ people and I feel like I miss out on so much. I have so enjoyed reading Ed’s questions and hearing his view of things. What a great guy. I love that we can be different and still love each other. THAT is truly being the hands and feet of Christ. It’s not our jobs to bring people to Christ….only Christ can do that. Its our job to simply LOVE people like Christ.
I live on a church camp-ground – large one – with 175 homes/cottages plus 150 plus RV’ers. My circle of friends is quite self-explanatory. We have been here 14 years. I think i count Ed as a close friend and he would be very comfortable here – I love to get outside of my “circle”!
Christ is a prime example of this…He was constantly seeking opportunities to “rub shoulders” with those outside of His circle…He went out of His way more than once to do this…in fact i think He came to earth to do it…?
the part that is resounding to me is ed’s last statement…”i’ll just have to settle for what i can learn in my lifetime.” …there is no hope in that…i remember no hope…it’s no fun!!!
I’m glad you guys rubbed shoulders with people outside your “culture”. What is culture anyways? We are supposed to leading people to Christ and makes disciples right?
Well we ain’t going to do that in church.
We need to go the fields of Africa, or bars, or, bus stops, my cleaner, or our Safeway.
AND YES…. Us old Christians LOVE sex!!!
( k, I’m not old but I do love, ya know
)
You make an excellent point, Tam. I think too many Christians take the admonition to be in, but not of, the world to mean that we should remain in our bubble and isolate ourselves from those who think differently. But, as someone already pointed out, Jesus associated himself with all kinds of people outside of His circle of influence. You cannot share the love of Jesus Christ with those who most need it unless you are out there in the trenches with them…..surrounding yourself with people who think just like you do is just preachin’ to the choir.
Ed – You’ll get the answers too, it will just be too late for you to do anything about it. Just because you don’t believe in God doesn’t mean he doesn’t exist (or that the rules change for you).
The longer I’ve been a Christian the MORE questions I have, and the more I’m not comfortable with the answers (when I get them).
Ed – if you’re right and we’re all wrong. No worries. But if we’re right and you’re wrong – you’re screwed.
I hate it
Nice attention grabber!
My blog headline for your newest post just said, “So Christians DO enjoy sex!”
Had to get here as fast as I could
I am going to have to go back and read this post…
Fun.
[insert gasp here] love it.
I love Ed!!!
I love Selena!!
and Ed…Ed too!
i love me some sex. and dang, i miss my husband.
Awww, thanks, Michelle! I feel snuggely!
thanks for updating us! It was a great conversation and it showed the beautiful and caring love that Christians ought to have.
I love that Selena speaks her mind when so many women are just acting like they like…not that I act..mmmmmm am I digging a hole here or what?? dang ! okay I love sex…but sometimes I don’t..hey I am old!!! I do love ED, and I hope that someday real soon we will see the same on Jesus..but in the meantime…I can pray..and still love ED!
OH!!! I LOVE TAM!!!!! I do
(I really don’t hate it)
Who could hate it?!!
Hey Tam is missing all the fun!!
Love you girl!!
Great words and what a brave act of leadership. Christians should lead the way in listening to others with other worldviews and providing space to dialogue and to civilly disagree. I actually mentioned this in my last post:
http://www.jmayblog.com.
The movie I mention has the same type of heart AND it was made by some fellow Oregonians! My friend from Oregon new some peeps in it.
i heart ed.
Tam,
I loved this idea and enjoyed all the conversation. Ed you rock!
As I get older and am around those who don’t believe what I do I have found that judging only brings me down. I’ve learned that God is God. How ever you see Him or worship Him, if it works for you awesome!!
Ed needs to read two books that really make christianity a little more easier to feel/understand. Anyone read em’ yet?
The Shack
Velvet Elvis
GREAT perspectives of what being a christian is really all about!
Hey Tam I haven’t seen you all day at my blog. Been busy?
I am dern close to breaking a thousand hits in one day. Care to help?
I have more questions everyday…but that’s the way its supposed to be, between the lines, God wants us to ask questions…we aren’t questioning Him by doing that, we are questioning the situation…big difference!!!
Just like this that I wrote as a comment to someone today:
a peaceful heart is found in the writer, a stressful heart is found in the reader, and a peaceful heart is found in the reader, and a stressful heart is found in the writer; we are all in this together!
Everyone, on the count of three let’s shout “TAM!!!” and get her over here.
1, 2, 3……
im here, im here. and i like sex!!!
wha?
Oh, there you are!
What took you so long?
yeah, were you on the crapper all day?
I have been waiting for you to share these oreos…
i just showed up.
bad – love that statement. id rather be wrong when i die and find there really isnt a God than to be wrong here and now living as if there weren’t. if im wrong right now, and there is no heaven…then im no ‘worse’ off than anyone else. but…its not something im willing to gamble on. and….even IF i am wrong in the end…i can say i will have had no regrets.
and can i say again…you all are incredible!
TT – im on my way!!!
Selena’s funny…
So’s Alece and Darla and Tam.
I’m not giving my position.
on the crapper???
hahahahaha!!!
actually…i’ll be posting a video later on my days events.
michelle – you are funny too! adorable funny! aha-thats right!
Holy crap!
and Heidi and Mandy…
aw…shucks…thanks, Tam.
“and Heidi and Mandy…”
that totally reminded me of “the romper room”! remember that show. she looks in that ‘mirror’ that has no glass in it and says she sees everyone in it.
“i see, billy, tommy, cathy, heidi, mandy…”
remember???
romper room..or the waltons saying goodnight
stupid romper room..never seen darla..hated that show
Yes!! Romper room and the Waltons!
Good night, Tam!
Good night, Darla!
goodnight Michelle, goodnight Tam
dude the lady with that mirror freaked me out!
ang….hahahahhaha
i tell my kids that people like her and mister rodgers…just stay away…really
Tam – your are too young to remember Romper Room. Must have been reruns.
I really enjoy seeing all these women proclaiming they like sex. I my wife likes it too. Just a few minutes out of the week…
When I got *fixed* the doc told me I wouldn’t have clear “pipes” for about 12-15 ejacul…, well you know. I told him, “I’ve got four kids! That could take years!!!”
Isn’t it fun to talk dirty, and it’s a holy thing?
darla – youre paranoid. i heart you SO big time!!!
bad – i. love. you. there! i said it for all to see!
Christian love fest….now that would be a good post…mmmmmm
bad- i love you too
I love tam, and I love brent..and I love me today… and I love Jesus…(hahaha my grams used to say if you don’t love Jesus your feet will stink…and we didn’t want that)
There must be some pretty smelly feet out in the world today…so sad.
beckycollins – great books! Two of my fave!
b4dguy – Dude, I remember romper room and I’m only 25. I mean, I just said “dude.” They prolly were reruns, though.
I just don’t like getting started. Not sure why. Finishing is great though. =P
I don’t remember.. I am not that old ya know !!
so, I had to check it out. Romper Room was apparently on TV until 1994. BUT…the original aired in Baltimore – and I used to watch the original.
You might have watched Romper Room – but it was franchised out. Like McDonald’s.
So, age isn’t a factor I guess. hope there’s still some mclovin for me.
mandy – that’s it!!!! yes!
Oh by the way. I lied. I am old enough to remember.
Yes, why is so hard to get it started?
Finish line is the best…
yep.
whew boy….all I’m sayin’ is somebody ain’t doing something right.
finish line, schminish line. How many times you crossing?
(I don’t really want an answer to that, and I’m not going to visit this post anymore).
finish line, schminish line.
LOL
Look what I started….
Tam is going to have my head!! LOL
Very cool. Hate I missed all this last week! Thanks for letting God use you like this Tam.
figures…missed the boat again!
Bad!!
For real? You people are too attractive to be Christians. The only Christians I know are fat, dumpy, desperate women. Or married couples. Seriously. I am a Christian, but not actively practicing (The Devil has me in his hot red clutches right now, but it’s only temporary, honest!)… I think that if more Christians were hot and attractive, took care of themselves better, and wore nice fashionable (but not slutty) clothes, they’d attract more “normal” people (like me). I think the myth about Christians not liking sex is because… well LOOK at them (dumpy, fat, no hair product, no nice clothes)… who’d want to have sex with THAT? I believe Christians like sex like anyone else, but we’re still driven, subconsciously, by biological triggers (which I might add, were developed by GOD Himself). So, it’s simple… if more Christians would take better care of themselves (our bodies ARE God’s temples, after all), lose weight, gain some muscle, wash their hair, use product, wear nice fashionable clothes, and remain well-groomed as much as possible, we’d like sex more, and we’d have more of it with each other. Thus, we’d produce MORE little baby Christians. It’s quite simple, really.
Hey Hey Hey LoneTruth.. I resemble the the No Hair comment… I have two children to prove at least one person wants to have sex with me….
Yes the body is a temple but we aren’t suppose to get caught up in the adornment of the body.
lonetruth,
Are you flippin serious????
I am glad Ed enjoyed our posts and at the same time it was nice to share views on various things about our faith. I am glad I found this post when I did.
Tam – I am glad to have met you. So thank you for the post that inevitably welcomed me into your world!
I know what you mean about the ‘like-minded’ society. I see the benefits on both sides. The ‘like-minded’ society gives strength, stability, and grounds you in what you know to be true, but in our own world, people tend to be just a tad bit fake – more ‘Christian’ and ‘fake-happy’ than they really are. Spending time in the ‘real world’ reminds us that there are real people with real pain, real questions, real passion – something that we can lose sight of otherwise. People are just people. No matter how ‘bad’ or how ‘good’ … people are just people. You want to know what I’m curious about? When Jesus went and had dinner with ’sinners’ … what did He talk about? How did He engage in conversation with them without either intimidating them, alienating himself, joining their world (in conversation), or sacreficing who he was? I think these are real problems most Christians have. I know I do. I want to know how Jesus did it. I think you’re doing a great job.
annie – ex-act-ly!!! thank you, yes! you said it perfectly. didn’t He say to go “into” the world? where did i miss that along the way?
blessed to be your sister annie!
