wow…..i totally get there are people who are totally grateful to be able to buy under garments for cheap….i just hope they use bleach first!
I have bought plenty of clothes at thrift stores over the years….some of my favorites. these days…..i go hunting for copper…i love copper, and i have found some great unique copper pieces in thrift stores.
Interesting finds that is for sure…I wouldn’t have guessed feminine hygiene products would be at a thrift store. I’ve seen “interesting” artwork (unlike the picture you found), mismatched furniture (I’ve bought some) and all sorts of clothing though.
melissa – copper! yes! we love copper too. i dont see much of it around either. and i do totally appreciate the goodwill..just some things catch me off guard. i did get a cute t-shirt there yesterday
nate – “giant shoe furniture” oh my stars…THAT is hilarious!!!!
I am losing my ever luvin mind. I thought that first picture was of GIANT shoes on display somewhere. Like, larger than life shoes. I honestly stared at the picture for a good 2 minutes before I realized what they were. Seriously.
hahaha… Wow, tampons are not to be purchased at a “second-hand” store! EWWW!
The shoes are very funny…nice huge platform from the early nineties!
THe pic…my grandmother had that picture…I always hated it! She probably bought it at a dollar store, she always lived like she had no money, (lived through the depression) but she was pretty comfortable! Ah, memories.
Strangest thing….I don’t know really, I was raised on the ” strange” stuff, so it would just be something my mom would say, ” We can’t use that until we wash it.”
Don’t mean to gross you out, but when you don’t have much to begin with, dealing with it just starts to come natural.
I love little trinkets I find, and novels. I have a Women of Faith ” Irresistable Hope” book I got for like .50cents.
I hope ya don’t think I am being a downer….I would be happy getting most of my wardrobe from there…
Anyways, I love you. And I told your walmart oil filter story to everyone at work:)
I think the reply was, ” And this would be your friend right?”
You know, I’ve found some kickin’ t-shirts in goodwills, or any sort of thrift store.
I’ve been in lots and lots, and I can’t think of anything stranger than the ones you took pictures of, really.
Except this one time I found a small sleeveless leather jacket, and, just to be stupid, I put it on. And then I couldn’t get it off. It was too small for my big swimmer-shoulder frame. The lady came up to me stoically and said, “we’ll just charge you with it on if you can’t get it off.” and then walked away.
Strangest thing?? Well … I generally avoid those sections (the underwear … ahem). My peeve about thrift stores (up here anyway) are that the prices are SO high! When the tag is a brand that’s sold at Walmart or Target, and they’re selling it used for $6?? I mean, brand new it might have cost that same amount!!!! Grrrr.
I heart heart heart thrift stores. For reals!!! I don’t know the strangest but one of the best treasures I found was a pair of fairly new doc martins for $3. Woo hoo. YUP! Those babies made it over here.
Hey – no makin’ fun of the guy bowing his head. My dearest grandmother, getting confused in her old age, gave me that same picture last summer. She says “Oh, I know how much you have always enjoyed this picture.” WHAT?? Apparently, there is a picture of a woman facing the other direction, bowing her head… wouldn’t that be sweet hanging on my walls!
Are those Brent’s tightey whiteys from 20 pounds ago?

The perspective of the first photo led me to believe it was a shot of giant shoe furniture…which I would buy in a heartbeat.

Actually I found my first boyfriend at the Goodwill…. Kevin
He had the dreamiest eyes and the softest hands …… ahemm…
He was working in the warehouse during summer break from high school…

The top of the shelf they’re on looks like a floor. It does. That’s what threw me.
Love-ness – if those are your jocks then may i suggest a diet for you?

I’ve seen lots of weird stuff at Goodwill… I can’t think of anything specific though. The tampons, though… yeah. That’s weird.
That’s the 1st thing I asked Brent when he twitpic’d that beautiful Goodwill…”How’s the smell?”
Check out the dresses I made for my girls from men’s shirts I found at Goodwill a few weeks ago.

But I got it off. Oh I got it off.

LOL, I love you, Tam!
I will probably end up shopping at Goodwill to keep my two babies clothed on a pastor’s salary though!
I heart heart heart thrift stores. For reals!!! I don’t know the strangest but one of the best treasures I found was a pair of fairly new doc martins for $3. Woo hoo. YUP! Those babies made it over here.
