thursday swap
ProBlogger inspired the following idea and i thought i’d tweak it just a bit to fit in a little better with how we roll here at inProgress.
i’d like to see more guest posters around these parts. i visit your blogs… i may not always comment (mostly cuz of time constraints and i dont like rushin a reply) but i do believe we have some great writers out there. we also have an invaluable amount of wisdom and wit too. so why not share it more, right?
so, heres the thing…
lets start swapping posts.
once a week i’d like to trade blogs with one person. well, just a post, really. you (the person picked for that week) and i post on each others blog. we’ll let our readers know where we’ll be that day. they might come over and peruse a bit and may find they have a lot in common with you. maybe a ministry will arise. maybe a long distant friendship will grow. who knows! but i think it could be fun!
so if youre interested, or confused, let me know in the comments below.

“regular” doesn’t mean like ‘every week’ … for me it just means whenever you feel you have something to say you’d have the opportunity to say it … I just want content and different ‘voices’ on it.
So that even I can be excited about logging in and not knowing what I’d find …
Anyway, we can talk about it.
I’ve got the same problem…cannot seem to be regular (as in every week) but occasionally may work well.

So far it’s been a jinx when you post or link to my blog.
The first time my host had a power outage and it took them 6 hours to come back on line. the second time Intense Debate had an outage.

Wow, sounds like a great idea! um … so how much warning would we have of the ‘swap day,’ and should there be a theme, or just ‘whatever comes into your head.’ I’m feeling a slight pressure to perform (not so good at that) but … details would probably ease my mind. Because the idea sounds wonderful.
I think that’s a great idea. I think, like Mandy said, you could use a random number generator. Or just pull names out of a hat.

I like the idea. I will need a few days advance warning to think of something really interesting to say, unlike most of what I post in my own blog.

i’ll announce on mondays (or over the weekend-not sure) who i’ll be switching blog posts with on the following thursday. that’ll give us 4 days. there will be a few “guidelines” (for lack of better words) like, word count and sticking to respectful topics… things like that.
my plan is, for whose ever blog i get to post at that week, to go to their place, get acquainted with their style, their themes and niches. i wanta stay relevant, but add a little of me, to who they are and what their blog represents.
I was going to e-mail you about doing a series of Guest posts and video interview for Philter48 any way… Lets do dis….

Tam, I would love to trade blogs for a day! I don’t know if a lot of my readers come here, so it would be a great way for them to get to know you!
i love the underlying concept, i think like most things in real life however the practicality will get a little ‘lost’.
As far as i can tell you already have the best part of a years worth of guest posting to do and others to post here. From the size of your blogroll it is going to take closer to two years (just at current levels of readership/contributions) for all to share in this concept. And that is just if everyone only guest posts here or you there) Once!
Might i suggest another way? How about we post/link?
You have already written some posts where you recommend reading someone else’s blog post you enjoyed and posted a link to their site (where we can then find ourt MORE about a person than a single posting). Just ‘extend’ that idea a little and arrange for one person at another blog to link their post to yours and yours to theirs. That way we retain our blog’s personality and Authenticity while giving our readers the chance to visit a new blog and learn more about them?
Any of us can do it on a one-to one level and we don’t need to stick to ‘one’ schedule for everyone?
It would be close to your idea if we find someone’s post that is somehow ‘related’ to the post we are writing at the time and we don’t just post a ‘you must read this blog’ type post. Another advantage is that we would not have to ‘edit’ what the other person is writing on our blog and are not constrained to be something someone else agrees with as we still post to our own blog – good?
The ‘catch’ here though is in the ‘synchronicity’ of posts – we can’t find a post that someone has not yet written to link to it and they would not have linked to ours if they already wrote on the subject we are currently writing on to link to them?
How about if we ‘pool’ our blognames who are interested and each of us in our own time picks people to ‘pair’ with by posting simultaneously on our own blogs on the one ‘topic’ but with our own perspectives and link to the second post?

if youd like to jump in an offer a post swap with any of these kind people then go right ahead. im just gonna go with the flow here and see how it works. it may evolve into something else as it goes along. it may bomb…but the intent here is to truly get to know each other more and get introduced to other bloggers. if it takes a year, thats ok. i dont think any of us are goin anywhere
i do want to keep it uncomplicated tho.
im actually posting something else tomorrow that will also help us to discover more of these blogs that are right under our noses.
We could put potential post ideas to write on up at the same time!
