It may get a little loopy over the next week…because I’m in the middle of a hosting transfer…but my link should link directly to russhutto.com (I’ll be moving away from houseofjoy.info/russ/)

    Thanks!

    Personally, I’m enjoying OurCC.

Also, like to read Church Crunch

And thought it’s technically not a blog per se, the Dave Ramsey podcast is one of my favorite reader items.

the most important trait i look for in a friend is…

    commitment.

  2. February 19, 2009 10:10 pm

I’ve got you linked, too. I so need to redo my roll. I need to do a page link or something.

The most important trait I look for in a friend is . . . honesty. Or not-moodiness.

I’m trying to decide whether I would rather be friends with a honest moody person or an emotionally stable pathological liar. Wait. Is that an oxy-moron? Good. That makes it easier.

    Honesty.

Why do you put me in such a mood of contemplation, Tam?

We are linked. You have everyone I know.

The most important trait I look for in a friend is : (deep friendship)

    God
    transparancy
    Honesty
    loyalty

  4. February 19, 2009 10:44 pm

Wow… It’s weird but I’ve never really thought about what trait I look for. I have always had very wide-ranging groups of friends. My sister always looks for people who are exactly like her, which I’ve never understood. I just make connections and people are usually genuine.

Which I guess would mean I look for authenticity. Being truly themselves, beauty, hurts, joys, warts and all.

Side Note: Anita, you must be feeling better. Cuz you are CRACKING.ME.UP.

  5. February 19, 2009 10:54 pm

russ – church crunch looks very interesting. thanks for the links. i especially like OURCC 😉

anita – you SO make me smile. i think we should combine the two and say youd rather be friends with an honest and emotionally stable person. and just for fun some days – YOU could role play the other half of those two and be the moody, pathological liar. OH THE FUN!!!

heidi – did you know you were one of the first people on my blog roll back in 2007 when i first started blogging. now youre my sister. crazy! good crazy 🙂

gitz – authentic. HUGE!! dont pretend to be something youre not. i think thats something we all can easily do, so to be able to rise above that and be comfy in your own skin is SO appealing. i agree! ( and when i say “you”, i mean us, everybody)

and yes, anita is on FIRE tonight! i love it!

  6. February 19, 2009 11:35 pm

Since all the ‘big’ things I look for in friends are already taken in the quality responses above…

The most important trait I look for in a friend is being inspirational. True friends inspire each other – wherever that is needed. Be it inspiration to turn a new page, or inspiration to step back and evaluate, etc, etc.

And I think I’m missing … Shaping The Space

My cat is also missing. I have no idea how you’ve survived without her blog.
I Can Haz Bloggedy Blog Blog?

She’ll be coming to WordPress soon-ish too, once Diane gets her long-awaited blog off the ground too. You thought my transfer took a long time!

  7. February 19, 2009 11:47 pm

    I am linking to you.
You are a favourite read of mine!
But what is another blog I’ve been enjoying as of late?
    This one: http://www.bonnie-simple-beauty.blogspot.com/
Why? because she always has LOTS of photos!!!

  8. February 19, 2009 11:48 pm

david – i cant believe your kitty has a blog. i cant believe i just commented on it. AND referred to myself as “aunt tam”. what is wrong with me?!

  9. February 19, 2009 11:50 pm

demara – thank you! i will work on the roll tomorrow and make sure i add everyone in. and thanks for the link to a new blog. i love looking at photography!

  10. February 20, 2009 2:13 am

Also in the middle of a host transfer, but everything “should” be working…just can’t add new stuff yet :-).

    You’re on the roll…have been :-).

Not sure I have a favorite lately. When I need a good dose of application, http://www.reson8.org is refreshing.

It’s hard to find a better story from addictions and struggles to living for the Lord then http://www.crucialencounter.com

    That’ll do for now.

  11. February 20, 2009 2:26 am

I am in the process of building a Friends of Philter48. You will be on there for sure.

Could you add http://www.philter48.com to your list.

I will come back with a couple links to new blogs I have found and am reading.

Trait in a friend. Honsesty and a willingness to dig to a deeper level of Frienship. Someone who is not afraid to call you out when you are being stupid, because you react and know the do it out of love for you.

    Peace and Love sis

  12. February 20, 2009 5:04 am

Tam, next time my nieces & nephews in Adelaide & Brisbane check out Maebh’s blog, they are going to be wondering who the new aunt is as well. I don’t know how to explain all this to the under-8 set 😉

  13. February 20, 2009 5:07 am

You already read all the good blogs.

Trait? Commonality, but in an “iron sharpening iron” sort of way…

  14. February 20, 2009 5:26 am

    Tam,
You’ve already got my blog (hooray!) .. thanks, would love a link to http://www.theworshipcommunity.com though (your hubby has a sleek, rad logo in his sidebar, ya know!).

Ben Arment (History in the Making) is also a good blog – he works w/ Catalyst Atlanta:
    http://www.benarment.com/history_in_the_making/

  17. February 20, 2009 6:16 am

As you may or may not have noticed, I have officially abandoned my “Photoqueen” name. So, if you wouldn’t mind changing that in your blogroll, that would be awesome. My blogspot link still works, but I’m actually http://www.givinguponperfect.com.

    Fancy, no?

As for what I look for in a friend – realness. I know that’s not a word, but it’s what I look for. What I need. What I love.

  18. February 20, 2009 8:56 am

i dare everyone to visit http://www.kissesfromkatie.blogspot.com

    just dare you!

    a friend should be herself

  19. February 20, 2009 8:57 am

oh, i forgot….you’ve got me on your roll as melissa1970…if you think about it would you change to either melissa irwin, or jasper walls

thanks!!!! you KNOW you’re on my roll

  20. February 20, 2009 9:11 am

melissa – yes i will change that today. why would i have it that way? i must have seen your name in the beginning like that. hmmm. thanks for giving us a link!

mary – yup, i will change that too. realness=authentic. a must!

heidi – “might” be crazy??? girl, we ARE crazy!

ric – at first i laughed at your trait. then…it hit me – YES!!!

mandy – ha! i do read all the good blogs – i just know im missing equally good blogs too. like, maybe you have a twin?

    david – oopsies 🙂

  21. February 20, 2009 9:27 am

The most important thing I look for in a friend…connection.

  22. February 20, 2009 10:05 am

I’m not sure if I’m on your blogroll, but you’re on mine

Most important trait I look for in a friend is loyalty and willingness to play ping pong.

  23. February 20, 2009 11:07 am

You’re on my Bloglines feed, but not sure that you’re on my blogroll (may need to fix that!)

A blog I recently discovered has been Learning How to Live: http://www.bradruggles.com mainly because it makes me laugh!

The most important thing I look for in a friend…3 things…acceptance, trust and something we can both relate to (common connection?)

  24. February 20, 2009 12:18 pm

a friend shoud always carry around a pack of kleenex for me to bum off of, ’cause i never go anywhere prepared.
    mmhmm.
gotcha on my blogroll, by the way. =)

    I am really loving http://sugarpluminvitations.blogspot.com/

Essentially it’s a wedding blog with tons of ideas, but she also designs invitations i believe. It’s just a beautiful site for wedding ideas, very fun to browse through!

  26. February 20, 2009 12:48 pm

Thanks, I would love to be on your blogroll. http://bsidethesea.blogspot.com

One of the blogs I really enjoy reading is Kristin Armstrong from Runners World Magazine. She does talk a lot about running and the training and events involved with that, and since I also love to run, that’s interesting to me. But she also talks about her 3 kids, friends, faith, and her life experiences. Sometimes she has profound insight which challenges me. Check her out at http://milemarkers.runnersworld.com

It’s difficult to choose “the” most important trait in a friend, but I’d have to say arrogance REALLY turns me off! So maybe humbleness. I also like honest, truthful friends, but sometimes honesty and truth hurts. Ha! I probably shouldn’t be so thin-skinned. I don’t do well with being criticized even when it’s for my own good.

  27. February 20, 2009 12:50 pm

I’m really bummed! I wrote out this long comment and it disappeared when I hit submit. Whaaaaah. Maybe I’ll redo it later.

  28. February 20, 2009 12:51 pm

    [hi tamster-friend!]

    how about http://www.shejusthadtosayit.com/

    frickin hilarity right there.

  29. February 20, 2009 12:52 pm

Love and truth but really it doesn’t even matter to me because some of my very best friends have been those who have loved me through my most untruthful moments…when I was lying to myself about everything there was to lie about. So I think that availability or maybe time or an open heart. I have no idea how to answer this question.

  30. February 20, 2009 1:01 pm

kristi – ahhh- so that would be a friend who loves unconditionally. those are hard to find. but priceless when you do find them. i sure love you!

alece – hey sweets!!k, i love me some “frickin hilarity”!!! ohyesido!

brenda – sorry. you got caught in spam. youre all rescued now 🙂 and im with you on the whole arrogance thing being a turn off. also, for me, a phony, ick.

boffthewall – are you getting married?

taylor – kleenex? do you cry a lot? i do. or is your nose runny a lot? mine is. so like, if we ever hung out, id have kleenex for you 😉

brunettekoala – i LOVE ruggles blog. his wifes too!! one of the greatest couples on the planet right there!

mark – i cant figure out why youre not on my roll. i swear i put you there. dang. i’ll fix it tonight 🙂 and dude, i so dig ping pong. id smear you in a game, ya know!

chelle – connection! absolutely. do you usually know right away if thats there?

  31. February 20, 2009 1:41 pm

…..a friend who is genuine and never two faced. Can be trusted.

[clearing throat] My blog is on your sidebar, but you need to update the URL to theREALrachelrowell.com 😉

  32. February 20, 2009 3:47 pm

I hope I’m still on it….. even though I’ve not been in the blogosphere lately….

What I look for in a friend –

    4. She must believe I am adorable.
    5. Willing to live with me until death do us part.

    David Clark
    http://purifymyheartlord.blogspot.com

my blog roll isn’t very extensive, but that could change soon b/c i want to link the few people that stop by my place to awesome communities like this.

I look for a friend who extends grace. I am an extra grace required friend. And when someone extends me grace it inspires me to give it out. Friendship has extreme value and importance in my life. The most important trait for me in a friend is consideration.

Well…i am linking to you because you are super cool.

I have been so crazy oddly busy that i have not been reading many blogs or finding new ones. Kind of sad.

But, one of the biggest things that i look for in a friend is honesty. I dont like the deception and lying that can sometimes play into friendships. Just over it. I am all about speaking the truth….so i kind of expect it out of others.

  45. February 22, 2009 4:36 pm

I love reading your blog and following you on twitter…fellow Oregonian….(right?) you are hilarious and REAL!

So, what I look for in a friend is someone that is REAL and FUNNNYY!! : )

Hi Tam! I’m new to your blog, and I really enjoy reading it! I came across your blog from Brandi’s. I wish I could’ve had the chance to meet you while you were in Nashville, hopefully next time!

You already have most of the blog’s that I read but I also really like http://themeanestmom.blogspot.com/ she cracks me up!

the most important trait I look for in a friend is someone to love me for exactly who I am, and that I can be 100% open and honest with them.

  52. February 24, 2009 6:55 pm

    Gotcha!

Most important … (aren’t there several?) ummm … if we’re talking real friend here … it’d be … I guess spiritual sister/brother. They know God. They love Him. They click with me on that. They get me. Because He is everything to me. I don’t think I could do without that. I have made ‘friends’ who don’t share this – but there is always a stopping point – a level I can’t go deeper than with them. Because they’re just not there.

  53. February 26, 2009 6:32 am

The most important trait I look for in a friend is …
    Honesty

    and cake.

I mostly read http://conversationattheedge.com which is part of the Off the Map (http://offthemap.com/) group of sites (I contribute the the eBay atheist part) but I also like http://friendlyatheist.com and http://friendlychristian.com now that Bill is back blogging a bit.

I can also recommend http://www.passiveaggressivenotes.com/ for some humour.
