in the middle of it all…

February 14, 2010

i know this next guest poster from twitter. patricia is simply a sweet spirit. always the first to offer a prayer, encouragement or hop on board with the crazies. and she is a hardcore sports fan! sometimes i think some man has taken over her twitter account when i see her talk about games with so much passion and energy and knowledge. really, it cracks me up!
here is trish’s valentines day post…
in the middle of all the activities that happen on valentines day…
the hustle and bustle of the weekend.
the celebration of couples as they commemorate their love.
the whispers in candle lit rooms.
the sounds of i love you. i lust you. i need you. i want you.
the heartbreak of those who have no one to call their own.
the busy feet of waiters as they serve countless tables.
the cry of single people who long to be held.
the ringing in of cash in flower shops and jewelry stores.
the stinging reminder of a love once had but now is lost.
the sound of happiness. sadness. joy. and pain.
In the midst of all these noises.
There is One who longs to quiet you with His love.
The One who craves to spend time with you.
To gaze upon your beauty.
To wipe away your tears.
To hold you in His arms.
He wants to lavish His comforting grace on you.
He hungers for you, desires you.
He take great delight in you.
He yearns to refresh you His peace.
He longs to romance you with songs of joy.
He rejoices over you as a bridegroom rejoices over His bride.
and He wants you to rest in His embrace.
This Valentines day…Your Maker desires for you to spend time with Him. Take time to drown out the noises of this weekend… and take time to celebrate with the One who loves you the most…. because the only way we can ever truly love others…is if we know of the One who loved us first. He is waiting for you with arms wide open. Draw near to Him and get ready to be serenaded by the Lover of your soul.
The LORD your God is with you,
He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17
Happy Valentines Day.
